Women’s physiotherapy is proven to be highly effective in managing and treating all kinds of female health concerns. It’s our jam. It’s what gets us out of bed, because we know that the right treatment can be life changing.

From leaking urine, prolapse and more complex vaginal complaints like sexual dysfunction, conditions in women’s health are often misunderstood and not prioritised. We are here to change that.

We know that talking about these issues can sometimes be a little overwhelming.

At our practise, you can rest easy knowing you are in a safe and open space, with empathetic professionals who treat women with the same concerns, every day.

We encourage you to talk openly as we listen, assess and work with you to regain confidence and get you back in control of your body.

Some common things we see:

  • Sexual Dysfunction and Chronic Pelvic Pain:
This includes sexual penetration disorders Vaginismus / Vulvodynia, which can cause difficulty in achieving comfortable sexual penetration.

  • Urinary Incontinence:
Urinary incontinence is any involuntary loss of urine. It is common, but it is not normal. There are many different causes and types of urinary incontinence, and targeted Physiotherapy by a Womens Health Physiotherapist is highly effective in many cases.

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse:
Pelvic Organ Prolapse or POP is the gradual or sudden descent of a woman’s organs towards the vaginal opening which can cause a sensation of heaviness or vaginal bulging. Other symptoms may include reoccurring urinary tract infections, difficulty emptying your bowels or inserting tampons.

  • Bowel Control:
Difficulty controlling the bowels resulting in involuntary loss of bowel motions and wind. Causes may include loose stools or diarrhea, constipation or anal sphincter/nerve damage.

  • Constipation and Functional Bowel Disorders:
Complaints in effectively emptying the back passage, including irregular bowel movements which can make it difficult and painful to pass stools.

 Find your best self

In most of the above cases, women’s physiotherapy is considered the first line of treatment. After listening to your story and undertaking a thorough assessment to find out which part of your anatomy is letting you down, we will equip you with knowledge and the right treatment to get you back on the road to your best self.
